Centenary Plate Competition 2023 Rules

Please consult the General Rules and Conditions that apply to all SLCGA Inter-Club Team knock-out Competitions. (Rules G1-G26 and T1-6), Issue 15.

CENTENARY BOWL RULES AND CONDITIONS (CB= Centenary Bowl)
CB1. An Inter-Club scratch singles match play Competition played annually.
CB2. A club affiliated to SLCGA may enter a team of five players.
CB3. The Competition is open to players with handicap index 10.0 or over
CB4. If a player plays in the semi-final of the competition and before the final their handicap index falls below the stipulated limit, 10.0 in this instance, they can still play in the final.
CB5. A ‘Home’ and ‘Away’ match will be played in each round until the final.
CB6. All matches must be played to a conclusion except in the second leg if an overall team result has been reached.
CB7. When the match score is one-all, the highest number of games won will decide the winners.
CB8. When the game's total is tied (5-5), the highest number of game points will decide the winner.
Game points are awarded as follows:

Win by 6/4 = 6 points to winner
Win by 2 holes = 2 points to winner
Win beyond 18th hole = 1 point to winner
Match claimed = 10 points to claimant (see T4)
Walkover = 10 points to winner
Illness/injury during match = score at time or 1 point, whichever is greater (see G15)

CB9. If still tied, the first named players in each team must play ‘sudden death’ from the 1st tee to obtain a result.

CB10. The Bowl and Plate finals will be played on the same day on a named course in October.
CB11. Play by Dates

ROUND
1st Play by 14th May 2023
2nd Play by 2nd July 2023
Quarter Final Play by 20th August 2023
Semi Final Play by 24th Sept 2023
Final to be played ON 15th October 2023 at Worplesdon
