Martha Brass, a member of Guildford Golf Club, has been appointed Chairman of England Golf.
Martha, who previously served for four years on the England Golf Board from 2017-2021 as Senior Independent Director, replaces Ian Pattinson, who recently took up the role of Captain of The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews. In taking up the position, Martha becomes the first female Chair of the national governing body.
Currently Chief Operating Officer of BBC Studios Productions, Martha is also a Non-Executive Director of the PGA European Tour and is Chair of PGA European Tour Productions.
Upon being appointed as England Golf Chair, she said: “I’m thrilled to be rejoining the Board of Directors of England Golf. I admire the work of England Golf – calling out the success of the Respect in Golf movement and initiatives such as iGolf and iPlay, in engaging the full spectrum of golfers. I am very passionate about making the game more accessible and welcoming for people of all backgrounds, ages and abilities.
“I look forward to working with the board, executive leadership team and all county stakeholders to further the game of golf in England.”
Surrey Women's Golf is delighted to see a woman at the top of England Golf, particularly one who lives and plays her golf in Surrey. We wish Martha every success in her new role and we look forward to meeting her, perhaps even taking part in one of our events!
