Senior Success vs Hampshire
On a gusty but dry day our Surrey senior scratch team of Gillian Brooks, Karen Francis, Kate Powell, Katie Shepherd, Jackie Kingswell and Susan Glover took on a Hampshire team who had won their other league in our last match of the season at Woking. Following the recent rain the course was in great condition and everyone was appreciative of the opportunity to play such a lovely course. After a delicious light lunch, the team teed off into a strong headwind but kept their heads down and ground out a fantastic 5-1 win. Karen had a particularly tough match against Alison Baker nee McDonald who is new to the seniors but has a particularly impressive golfing CV with county, regional, European university and England honours! The team have fought hard all season and haven’t quite got the results we wanted but today’s win catapults us up the leaderboard to finish 3rd in the table. Well done to everyone today!
Our next event is the 10 Counties event on 22/09 at Sittingbourne and Milton Regis where our team of Sheppy, Gillian, Julia Brook and Belinda are hoping to better our 2nd place from last year!
